This guide is all about dice rolls on the site! They'll be an incredibly important part of the site and this is our first time giving it a go in terms of a site as a whole, so we may be making some tweaks to it in the future. If so, we'll let you guys know exactly what is being shifted around. Just know that there are several occasions where that nifty little dice button in your reply screen will come into play. Fighting Fighting is likely to happen quite frequently around TWL, simply because this is an apocalypse based site. This can either detail fighting between characters or fighting between a character and a zombie, especially in the case of the zombie pits. This is by far the simplest of dice rolls around the site. If two people decide that their characters are going to be in a fight of some sort or if your character is facing a zombie, all you have to do is post a roll in our roll thread. Whoever has the highest number will be the victor in the fight. An admin will make a roll if it's a zombie. As easy at that and the players decide the rest. The Hoard Hoards are groups that consist of twenty or more zombies. These will be pretty rare around the board though they will certainly exist. For the most part, they will be located around areas that are inhabited. So if your character is planning on traveling to one of the major areas, it is likely they will come into range of a hoard. Admins will be deciding when to throw this event in and it will likely be when more than one person is traveling together toward a destination because the chances of a single person surviving a hoard is low. Looting/Raiding There will likely be much of this around TWL, especially considering we have bounty hunters and military who have to go out on supply runs. Looting is the safer of the two options, meaning that you will be searching a supposedly empty place. Raiding is more dangerous, with the intent of clearing out an occupied place to take the occupants goods. We will allow you the option of looting or raiding, unless a spot has been claimed by a group. If claimed by a group, then raiding is the only option. Both options are more than welcome though. Supplies mean survival. A roll will be made for looting to determine the danger of going into a place for supplies. For raiding, both parties involved will have to take a roll, with the higher roll being the victor. Safe Houses Many characters around the site will likely be looking for safe houses. And those these will not always entail actual structures, they could include something like finding an empty cave, and rolls for this set will determine how safe the place is and what kind of danger your character will run into. The danger for places like this could range from something as easy as fixing a broken window to something as dangerous as another gang of people or a group of zombies. If searching for a safe house in your thread, you will have to roll for the outcome of whether or not the place is inhabitable. Random There may be several instances where the admins of the site might decide to throw a random event your way. This could be a wide range of things, things that could be harmful or beneficial to your character in the long run. We will pick a random character name using a generator and roll on behalf of the most recent thread your character has been in. This will only take place if the most recent thread does not already include one of the previous events. Random additions like this are to emulate the chances of shifts and surprises that could occur naturally in a zombie apocalypse. You will be notified of the roll if chosen for a random event. |
